Procrastination usually involves ignoring a feeling of UGH, I don’t want to do this! But giving in to this impulse can have serious consequences. For example, even smaller episodes of procrastination can make us feel guilty or ashamed. In addition, it can lead to reduced productivity and cause us to miss out on achieving our goals. So we want to help you overcome procrastination!

If we procrastinate over a long period, we can become unmotivated and disillusioned with our work, leading to even more significant consequences. So let’s tackle this to avoid that at all costs!

Overcome Procrastination In Your Business

When we attach a feeling to what we need to do, this is where procrastination kicks in. We go through a self-dialogue like ‘I don’t feel like it‘ or, ‘I’m not feeling it right now.’ When you want to overcome procrastination, it’s about letting go of that conversation in your head and moving forward detached from that feeling.

Because there will always be things, we don’t want to do, right?

Remembering the purpose of the task you’re avoiding can help here. Remind yourself why this is so important for you to do and long for that feeling of accomplishment instead.

Act despite how you feel …

Because when you act on the task you were trying to get away from, it punishes procrastination out the door, and this is the goal, right? Feeling stuck? Take action! Are you avoiding something at all costs? Take action! The reward through accomplishment you will feel once completed will be worth every moment of it.

People often find that the task could have been better. For example, you were probably using more energy procrastinating – sound familiar?

Make action your new habit.

We’re super passionate about taking action instead of procrastinating, but we want to leave you with a few more essential things you can do to help you overcome procrastination.

  1. Recognize that you’re procrastinating in the first place
  2. Work out why you’re procrastinating
  3. Forgive yourself for doing it but then take action
  4. Grab an accountability partner to help you and check on you
  5. Minimize your distractions

Are there others you would add to this list?
