Following Up: The Secret Sauce Anyone Can Do!

We’re going to dive right into the secrets and strategies that will make you excited to follow up consistently. And while you’re reading, remember: Don’t be afraid! But why is follow-up so crucial, anyway? It’s about building trust, showing commitment, and being a reliable leader. You want people to see that you’re serious, accountable, and ready to guide them towards success.

When it comes to follow-up, simplicity is key. No need for fancy presentations or webinars. Just focus on educating and informing your prospects after they have reviewed the necessary information. So get ready to revolutionize your approach to follow-up and skyrocket your business. Don’t miss out on the untapped potential that lies within consistent and effective follow-up. Let’s get started!

  1. Figure Out What Excites Them

In your conversation with them, keep it simple by asking some questions like, “What were the things you liked most about what you just saw or reviewed?” Find out what excites them and what makes them tick based on what you showed them.

Knowing what they’re passionate about allows you to tailor your conversation. You can provide them with more insight, stories, or information about how it works based on what they tell you. This is important because most people fail to ask these simple questions.

By asking these questions, you’ll start a dialogue with them. Another important thing to remember is that what motivates and excites you may not necessarily have the same effect on your prospect. Don’t assume that the same things will appeal to them.

  1. Focus On Their Motivation

When following up, avoid the mistake of bombarding them with information that doesn’t interest them. Always remember to focus on what’s in it for them! Ask questions to find out what motivates them and what excites them about what you just showed them.

Whatever their answer is, it’s valuable because it shows what excites them about the business. A crucial part of the follow-up process is making them feel comfortable and understanding where they stand. 

  1. Don’t Force A Decision

Instead of pressuring them to make a decision on the spot, use the scale of one to ten method! Simply ask them on a scale of one to ten, where they stand in terms of readiness. This takes the pressure off both parties. Let them answer and whatever their response is, it’s great! If they say 10, sign them up. If they give a different number, ask them what information they need to reach a 10. Listen to their concerns or previous experiences. By actively listening and providing answers, you’re exposing them to our business and building a stronger connection.

Remember, you’re just in a conversation! Go back and forth, letting them ask questions, and then you ask the follow up questions. Maybe they ask about the support they’ll receive, opportunities for mentorship, leadership structures, or how the money works. And you can use these questions to point them to another tool: a video on the compensation plan, a PDF that explains support, a webinar about products, etc. Just be the best possible tour guide for them!

And remember, timing is everything. If you get a ‘no.’ don’t take it personally—take it as a ‘not right now.’ People have a myriad of things going on in their lives, and it won’t always be the right time to jump into a new opportunity. But if you keep following up, you’ll increase your odds of getting a ‘yes’ in the future!
