If you have just started on your journey of entrepreneurship or network marketing, then you are probably finding it harder to set your daily tasks and goals without an boss or colleague supporting you. On the other side of things, if you have been on this adventure for some time now, you have probably run into some bumps in the road that have set you back. Ebbs and flows, right? You may also find it hard to balance all of the entrepreneurial tasks you have with your personal life. Either way, we are confident these 5 ways to stay motivated are going to help push you through.

And here’s the deal, as an entrepreneur, it’s easy to lose drive. The key however, is not giving up and to find ways you can lift yourself up on those longer, tougher days.

5 Ways to Stay Motivated as an Entrepreneur

You are solely responsible for holding yourself accountable, right? There is nobody in a higher position that’s responsible for your progress, goal setting and performance. My friend, it’s all on you — and that’s scary. We get it.

So let’s get you in a place of perseverance, belief and overall meaning for those days you need that little bit extra.

Be Clear on your Personal Goals

We talk a lot about professional goals, naturally. But, what about personal goals? We have found that being explicit in why you are striving on the entrepreneurship bus is super important.

We encourage to write down why you want to be an entrepreneur (or revisit why) Here are a few suggestions to get you started;

  1. You want to be your own boss
  2. Seeking time or financial freedom
  3. You want the opportunity to follow your passion

Create and Maintain a Healthy Routine

Stress is going to happen. And what’s important to know is that there is both healthy and unhealthy stress — how you manage both matters. Creating a healthy routine to stay motivated might include;

  • Getting in regular access
  • Ensuring you are getting enough sleep
  • Eating well (and balanced)
  • Allowing time both personal and professional balance

Don’t underestimate how important a healthy routine is. It can (and will) be your saving grace on those tougher days. A routine is predictable and can help create some normalcy on the chaotic days.

Set Reminders for Yourself

You’ve got your goals written down — now what? What we have found helpful for us is setting reminders (or post-its!) to help keep you on task. Think of your goal as the overall destination, use the tasks as your GPS. Taking note and reminding yourself of daily tasks, will help keep your focus and keep you accountable.

Whether you do this with good old fashioned pen to paper or electronically, just make sure it’s something you are implementing daily.

Join a Supportive Community (online or offline)

The reality is, and one you may be experiencing is that the support you perhaps once had, dissipates fast. There will be naysayers, people who said it would never work, Negative Nancy’s and all things in between.

Knowing our own experience in this area early on (now, 20 something years ago) we wanted to create a community that allowed entrepreneurs to feel safe, supported and provide them a place to grow. If you haven’t joined us yet (you should!). Because if we can help you stay motivated in any way, that’s what matters most to us.

Set (and Achieve) Personal Rewards

It’s human nature to respond well to incentives, right? So leverage this to your advantage. Something as simple as treating yourself to a manicure or attending a sporting event if you hit a specific goal can do wonders for your motivation.

You have to set performance-based rewards, and collect on them when you do complete a milestone. Use visual ways to track your progress to each reward because seeing them will provide additional ways to stay motivated.
