First things first, what IS motivation?

It is what causes you to act, whether getting a glass of water to reduce thirst or reading a book to gain knowledge. Working with this definition, did you notice that it has everything to do with ourselves versus anyone else’s ability over another person? In the simplest terms — we cannot motivate someone else. Wait, for what?!

2 TIPS TO MOTIVATE YOUR TEAM
… and they’re not what you think!
Fact: 75% of your team is NOT motivated the way you are. We believe one of the biggest reasons this happens is because we assume that others should be encouraged, inspired or excited for the same reasons we are, and this couldn’t be further from the truth!
They have their own thing to be excited about — it’s essential as a leader that we help them recognize those things!
You could look at this with a similar lens so how they determine their ‘why’ — find out what gets them fired up AND help them take inspired action.
The second tip we want to leave you with today has everything to do with YOU.
CREATE A BRAND NEW STORY IN FRONT OF THEM!
You’ve heard it before — lead by example. Members of your team (or soon-to-be members, too!) are watching what you’re doing. So instead of telling them what’s possible — SHOW them what’s possible. Learning how to motivate your team starts with you.
And, when you lead the way through your actions, it shows them what results are possible and how to get there.
It’s about walking the talk.
