In this post we’re going to share with you multiple ways that you can market your business for free!

The best part (outside of free, of course) is that they take little to no time to use. We like simplicity.

Although bells and whistles can be attractive and enticing — we’ve always stayed basic and have managed some incredible results.

The reality is if you want to be seen you have to be out there. And, when building your business online there is a lot of noise to fight through. The more people see your name, website, or otherwise … the better the recognition and, credibility.

What have you got to lose?

7 Ways to Market your Business for Free Online

Capture Visitor Email Data

Ensure that you have a method of capturing email data from your website visitors. Integrate an email sign up option onto your site and begin building a database of customer data. Once this list starts to grow, we do encourage a paid platform but in the mean time, consider MailChimp or WordPress as great options to use.

We use Active Campaign now but again, when you’re just starting out don’t use these programs as an excuse not to do it — go with a free option until you begin to scale (1K or more).

Email Marketing to your List

You’ve got the data, now you need to do something with it.

Try to avoid being overly sales driven and promotional. Always offer something of genuine value to the recipients. Keep the emails regular but avoid overload! Otherwise, people will hit unsubscribe quicker than you can imagine. Also, don’t hesitate to show your subscribers a little bit more about who you are — email marketing is still alive and well giving your readers a glimpse is always a great idea.

Get Listed on Yelp

The most popular online spot to market your business for free (locally) is Yelp. Not to mention, the very candid consumer reviews. Being listed on Yelp can make or break you, but for those who provide great service and as a result accumulate some good solid reviews you will see a great deal of growth by using this service.

And, Yelp is a great way to land customer demographics for those operating locally.

Add your Website to Yahoo Local

Coming in 3rd behind Google and Bing, you can still get a free basic listing and are allowed some very affordable premium listing options when you have the budget to handle it. Though not a search engine giant like it used to be, Yahoo Local is still a sold listing directory.

Consistent and Regular Facebook Posts

It goes without saying that social media is one of the most valuable marketing tools out there, right? And it’s free. It’s best not to go crazy join gin on social media platforms so try just to focus on those most suitable to your business. To market your business for free on social media … Facebook is a viable option for almost all businesses and entrepreneurs.

Get Involved on Twitter

Twitter isn’t for everyone, but it does carry a whole ton of benefits. It’s a great platform for engaging with industry experts and customers because it’s a place where anyone can talk to anyone. Literally. Respond to customer feedback, retweet the best user-generated content, and offer genuine suggestions to industry discussions.

Grow your Network on LinkedIn

If your business is a B2B company, be sure to have a strong presence on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a great place for building your network and building your business for free, online. The same rules apply to LinkedIn as other social platforms – engage with relevant people and offer value.
