This post is for you if you want to be viewed as an expert in your niche. Even after spending more than a couple decades building our businesses, we found that we were still feeling unseen once we made our way online.

This, of course, is due primarily to the number of people online. But, we knew we wanted people to start seeking us out in ways we were confident we could help. So, we have put together our top tips for helping you do the same!

Oh, and the good news? You can accomplish this credibility and visibility with a bit of time, some patience, and a whole lot of passion.

6 Ways to be seen as an Expert in Your Niche

You will want to take action on this (sooner than later if you are looking to;

  1. Build credibility in your industry and be seen as the expert in your niche, but you need help figuring out where to start.
  2. ‘Elevate’ your profile with ads (not ideal anyways!)
  3. Have your customers see YOU as the credible expert in their problems who can help them get what they need and want.

Speak to your Ideal Customer/Client

Remember, you are focusing on becoming viewed as the expert in your niche, so when creating content, you should be creating for your ideal customer or client. Of course, you don’t need to be for everybody! But you need to be the right person for the right people.

Consider who your customer avatar is; who they are, where they shop, where they live, and what they need? Knowing who they are will help you craft the content that SPEAKS to them. Develop that loyal tribe through your expertise and influence in the areas they need and want it most.

Solve the Problems they are Experiencing Today.

Yes, it can be tempting to share everything you know simultaneously (we get it — we’ve been there!) However, this is where you want to pay close attention to what your ideal customers and clients are struggling with today. This will allow you to get super micro on your solutions and help them take immediate action.

Going too broad or super general can leave the reader/viewer with very little to act on or feel far too overwhelmed. Small pieces of value and tips they can take action on are critical!

Don’t be Shy to Share your Opinion

Not all things are black and white, right? This is especially true regarding your personality paired with being viewed as an expert in your niche. Your niche isn’t unique, but guess what? You are. Sharing your opinions and perspectives is an excellent way of helping you stand out from the other experts. It’s a noisy social media world — use your views loud and proud.

Step up and out on the 75%

This one might sting. Do you ever find yourself only speaking up when you are 100% sure you know what you’re speaking about? Let us explain. Consider the topics in your niche you know a whole lot about — if we’re being honest, there’s no way you know 100% about every piece of the niche inside and out. It can feel like it, but you are constantly learning and growing, right?

So, don’t hesitate to create content where you know 75% about it. This can always leave room for your interpretation, opinion, examples, and experiences. It’s OK to source other experts you rely upon for specific facts — but don’t sell your own knowledge short, either!

Studies show that you are not more likely at 90% to achieve a better response than 75% (sorry ladies, this is especially true for you!) So be bold and put yourself out there, even on the topics you’re not 100% sure about (yet).

Create a Piece of Content known as ‘Flagship.’

Depending on where you are on your influencer and entrepreneurial journey, this flagship content may look different. For example, if you are already an avid blogger, content creator, contributor, or otherwise in your niche — you may be ready for a book.

Or, if you are brand new and still navigating your way around, a flagship piece of content could be a longer video, audio, or even an e-book.

Wherever you are — make it happen. Being viewed as an expert in your niche is only the beginning – like any expert, you must keep delivering and overdelivering to your tribe, loyal followers, and fans. In some ways, these pieces of content allow for a great resource or prop, but they also hold a ton of merit to the ‘everyday person.’

Apply for Media Opportunities

Did you find yourself taken aback by this title? We were initially!! That is, until we realized it actually sounds scarier than it is. Media includes everything from guest blogging, podcast interviews, contributor on a video, etc.

Check out thought leaders and fellow entrepreneurs in your niche and see what opportunities they may have you can apply to. Expect to do these pieces without a commission attached for you and see them as perfect opportunities to position yourself as an expert in your niche.

Overall, we hope you found these tips valuable and can’t wait to see you put them to use! You have an incredible opportunity in front of you, and we believe the world needs to hear, see and feel what you have in store for them.
