Want to learn how to grow you network marketing business using Facebook Messenger? Facebook prospecting is not sending friend requests to people and then instantly pitching them on your products or opportunity as soon as they accept.

There’s so much more to it than that, starting with being a human first!

In this post, you’re going to learn our simple approach to prospecting using Facebook Messenger.

The Magic Happens in Facebook Messenger

Let us ask you this; are you using voice memos (you know the little microphone looking thing on your app?) for your conversations in Facebook Messenger? If you’re not — start! Not only does this save us some great amounts of time but, it is so much more personable for people. In fact, it can truly feel like a real conversation instead of back and forth text.

Whether you use them to strike up a conversation or wish a happy birthday — get acquainted with this voice note/memo feature. Remember, we’re in a people business regardless of the industry we’re in, right? And, the more we can keep that personal touch available – the better.

A Few Tips for Striking up those Conversations

Before messaging someone, take a few moments and check out their profile. Get an idea of where they’re at in their life. Maybe there are some cool things they’ve been up to and you can open with ‘hey that trip you just took looked awesome!’.

Or, maybe they’ve not been doing so well — financial times are tough for a lot of people. Perhaps they’ve made a comment about daycare fees or extracurricular costs. These are perfect ways to first be aware and secondly, where their most immediate needs lie.

See, being the best listener will build the biggest business.

Another cool way to connect with someone for the first time is love on them. Tell people something that truly caught your attention about what they’re up to. Being genuine and frankly a normal person is what will help cultivate relationships that in time, may evolve to business partnerships.

Transitioning from Conversation to Business

Now, let’s assume you’ve been chatting for a while. You’ve been listening to their needs and you truly believe you can offer them a solution – go for it. Paraphrase pieces they’ve shared with you about some recent struggles and let them know you may be able to help.

One of our best ‘lines‘ to transition is this;

Hey not sure if you’ve ever thought about partnering with me before but, we could have a blast and help you earn some money to help with __________ along the way’.

Do you have a common go-to phrase? We would love to hear about it in the comments!

Third Party Conversations & Social Proof

Third party chats and/or social proof are great assets for Facebook Messenger. And, they don’t only need to be used for Group Chats with your teams. Once you’ve spoken to your prospect about the business, let them know you’d love to invite So n’ So to the conversation because they can offer some great insight.

This person might be your upline or, they may be someone in your business that you know your prospect will relate to. Again, keep the conversations friendly and genuine but allow this third party to solidify the opportunity for you.

Fortune is in the Follow-Up

Last but certainly not least is your follow-up plan. You will want to weigh some of this on your most recent conversations with your prospects, however, every few days to a week is a good number. The last thing you want to do is bombard them but, this is why setting up follow up times or timelines are imperative.

It’s totally OK to say, hey is it OK if I check back in with you in a few days? Or, something along those lines. That way it’s no different than how you may have set up a follow-up call, right?

Since you will be having an abundance of conversations (we recommend 10-15 a day), be sure to take note of when you’re following up and with who so that you are always honoring your commitment too!
